India 2013

When I was an AB examiner I did many tours abroad for them, until I became persona non grata. These were usually to South East Asia, meaning, more precisely, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

Another Asian country I visited was India. Beginning in the southern region of Kerela, there were also exams in Kodaikanal, Ootacamund, Chennai, Bangalore and finally, after a flight up north, Delhi.

Perhaps this experience has been partly responsible for TCL’s offering me examining work in Mumbai (Bombay) this autumn. The session lasts for five weeks; I shall be going on Friday 15 November and returning on Friday 20 December. Naturally, I am pleased to be considered for this so soon after joining their examining panel and, if nothing else, at least I shall be a lot warmer than I will be here.

I had already set aside three weeks for examining in any case, so I don’t expect there to be too much disruption of the normal teaching schedule.

In order to allow everyone to have their proper complement of lessons I am extending the term to go up to Monday 23 December, including the day before (Sunday). I will also be available between Christmas and New Year (as always) to make up any missing lessons and to give lessons to anyone who wants them at that time.

And here’s an update. Shortly after finding out about this trip, an extension of two weeks was made. So now I shall be leaving home on Friday 1 Novmber, still to return on 20 December. This extra fortnight will be spent examining mainly in theĀ  Station of Yercaud, in the Southern region of Tamil Nadu.
